I can’t believe this is the last session I’ll photograph before our son is here! Just two more weeks (or less!) until we get to meet him! This season is a true blessing and I’m super excited about our little one’s arrival. If I wasn’t excited enough about this year, Katelyn and Brian’s engagement session successfully energized me for all the amazing weddings I get to capture! I seriously photograph the sweetest couples!
The cool wind whipped Katelyn’s hair as we stood atop the sun-soaked parking garage. She didn’t mind though. The love of her life was right there beside her, keeping her warm. Being from Texas, Brian had high hopes for a snowy engagement session. Iowa weather is so unpredictable though. Instead of a winter wonderland, we were blessed with a gorgeous spring-like day in early March! We had so much fun exploring a little of what Iowa City’s downtown has to offer. A Sunday stroll downtown is especially enjoyable on a sunny afternoon with new friends! When Katelyn first told me about the outfits she had planned, I got excited. As she emerged in this gorgeous floral maxi dress, though, I was blown away!
This darling pair traveled all the way from Texas to Iowa for their engagement session! After college, Katelyn, a Des Moines native, was looking for a change of pace. The solution: packing-up everything and moving to sunny Austin, Texas. In an attempt to make a connection in her new city, she gave online dating a shot. Brian had a similar idea. When Katelyn popped up as his match, he eagerly reached out to try to get together. She seemed perfect for him. Katelyn, however, wasn’t convinced. After taking a survey and having many of the same answers, Brian contacted her again. This time she agreed! They enjoyed a date night for Tex-Mex (which they are also having at their wedding!), and have been inseparable ever since!
Brian and Katelyn, I’m so excited to serve you as your photographer! You guys brighten my day. Couples like you are the reason I love what I do as a photographer! Enjoy the warm Texas weather, I can’t wait to see you in Iowa again this fall!
