Before every wedding, I get together with my couples for an engagement session. Engagement sessions allow for us to all become comfortable together before the wedding day stress. Greg and Katelynn are a perfect example of why I do this. They’ve never had their pictures professionally taken and were a little concerned about looking “awkward.” I quickly assured them there is no way they could look awkward!
I first met Greg and Katelynn over a cup of coffee in December. Instantly I was blown away by the way they worked together. Greg is quite the jokester and the two banter seamlessly. From that first meeting, I knew we would get along. We shared a love for simple, yet beautiful things and they were willing to trust me with capturing every special moment of their wedding day.
Their spring engagement session at the Indian Creek Nature Center in Cedar Rapids was one of my favorite to date! Right before their session I received a phone call from Greg, he said with all seriousness,”we are going to have to cancel.” My heart sank. Until he quickly added, “Nah, I’m just kidding, we are almost there!” That’s just a little glimpse at the dynamics of these two!
We photographed their session on a particularly beautiful night in Iowa, but Katelynn and Greg are what really made it shine! Their natural chemistry flowed so well, I barely directed them into poses! A starting place was all they needed and the rest was all them!
Katelynn and Greg, your smiles and laughter are infectious! I’m excited to be together again at your fall wedding at Ushers Ferry! I’m honored to be the one to capture this time in your life!
