Before their wedding later this summer, Alisha and Kenny wanted to celebrate their engagement with a special photo session at Palisades State Park in Mount Vernon, Iowa. I’ve known these two since high school, and after years of following their journey on Facebook, I was thrilled to hear about their engagement!
When Alisha reached out just days after their engagement, I was pleasantly surprised and deeply honored. She’s been one of my most loyal social media followers, and being considered for their wedding photography felt incredibly special.
Alisha and Kenny are some of the most easy-going and relaxed people I’ve ever met. They quickly confessed that they aren’t used to being in front of the camera and feel a bit awkward. I reassured them that it’s perfectly normal – very few people are used to having a photographer capture their every moment. My goal isn’t perfection; it’s to capture the genuine emotions and essence of who they are.
I believe that my photography style helps clients feel comfortable and relaxed. I give loose directions, just enough to guide you without making you feel stiff or awkward. This approach allows you to be yourself and enjoy the moment.
My top advice for engagement photos? Relax and focus on your partner. Lean into them and cherish the time you’re spending together. The best photos come when you forget I’m there.
Alisha and Kenny nailed this perfectly. They followed my guidance but also improvised naturally, creating those magical, candid moments that make photos truly special. As you scroll through their photos, you’ll see how comfortable and at ease they are with each other.
If you’re looking for an engagement photographer in Iowa, send me a message! I’d love to connect with you and bring your session to life. Let’s create beautiful memories together.
