Why do I love what I do so much? Simple answer: the people. I’m filled with joy every time I meet a new couple in love as they plan their wedding day. Celebrating with them is certainly a highlight, but I absolutely love getting to know them for the rest of their lives. Katelynn and Greg’s Cedar Rapids spring maternity session was an absolute highlight of that.
I first met Katelyn and Greg over two years ago, when my dream of becoming a wedding photographer was just starting. Since then, I’ve had the pleasure of photographing their engagement session and wedding at the beautiful Ushers Ferry. After I delivered their wedding album to their home and they gave me a tour, not as a wedding vendor, but as a friend; I knew it wouldn’t be the last time I’d see them!
When they announced that baby Usher was on the way, I just about cried! I’m so happy for them! Katelynn asked me if I’d be available to take their maternity photos, and of course my answer was a resounding YES! I would’ve dropped everything for a chance to see these two again. Especially during this special season as they enter parenthood!
After their session we chatted about kids and what parenthood has been like so far. Sharing little tidbits of my limited child-rearing knowledge was so fun! Greg is going to be the absolute sweetest dad. He already cares so deeply about Katelynn, it didn’t surprise me one bit when he said he was going to do whatever he needed to give her much needed rest. Even if that meant totally taking over nighttime duties (as much as possible)!
Katelynn and Greg, I without a doubt know that you two will be amazing parents! Your sweet little boy is so lucky to have you! I’m thankful for the blessing of your friendship! Can’t wait to meet your sweet little one when he arrives!
