Ashton Hill Farm Cedar Rapids Wedding

I’m so excited to share this Ashton Hill Farm Cedar Rapids Wedding with you today! We’re lucky here in Eastern Iowa to be home to quite a few gorgeous venues. Ashton Hill is up there at the top as one of my favorites though (partly because I wish my house was this perfectly designed!). Megan, owner of Ashton Hill, thought of absolutely everything. Its intentionality like that, that makes for amazing wedding days! This classy, minimalist wedding for Ryann and Scott was absolutely flawless! The day even ended with the perfect sunset…but let’s back up a little.

Both avid golfers, Ryann and Scott met quite naturally, on the golf course. They hit it off right away and have been each other’s favorite caddy ever since. Last year on vacation in North Carolina, as the sun was setting low on the beach, Scott sank down to one knee. With their sweet daughter Hadley at their side, he asked Ryann to be his wife. Cue all the tears because they are just so sweet!

When it came time for their engagement session, any guesses where we went?! The golf course, of course! I love when my brides and grooms pick a location for their engagement session that either 1. they have special access to, or 2. that means something special to them. This was both! Even though we nearly froze in the icy winds of late Iowa fall, it was so much fun! I knew from the second Ryann ran up to me and gave me a hug — it was going to be a fun time together!

As a wedding photographer, it’s a true joy to be able to spend one of the most special days of my couple’s lives with them. I get to see them be transformed into brides and groom, see each other for the first time that day, and all the sweet moments in between. For Ryann and Scott, it was their love for their family and each other that truly made the day special!

Ryann and Scott, from the moment you sat down for coffee and brought Hadley with, you were already unforgettable. You’re both so loving and kind — the perfect examples as parents for Hadley. I felt so honored to be part of one of the best days of your life. I hope you love your photos as much as I loved taking them for you and that they’ll be a true treasure for you for years to come.
