I’ve been really excited to take photos of a couple among the spring blooms here in Ames. There are a few trees I’ve had my eye on, so when Anna said they wanted some spring photos together, I knew just the place!
Just before their session, Anna shared with me that they’re expecting their first baby this fall, so we made sure to include some photos with their ultrasound images.
When Anna asked me about what they should wear for their session, I suggested they wear something they would feel comfortable wearing on a date. I was thrilled when they both arrived wearing colors they had found out looked good on them during their color analysis with House of Color.
I approach sessions like this very informally, not giving too much direction. I want to see how couples naturally interact without my guidance and focus on who they are as people. The end result was genuine expressions from them. Combined with the sun shining through the dreamy white blossoms, it made for the perfect session!
The best time to plan a blossom session in Iowa is in mid-April. The exact timing will depend on the year since the weather can greatly affect when the trees will bloom. I like to plan tentative dates for blossom sessions. Once the trees start to bloom, the blossoms will only last about a week!
