Drew & Mattea | Old Brick Church Iowa City Wedding

Despite rain and wind predicted in the forecast, Saturday turned out to be one of the most gorgeous, surprisingly warm October days you’ve ever seen. It was the perfect day for strolling around Iowa City and photographing a gorgeous wedding at Old Brick Church. What was more dazzling than that day though? Drew and Mattea, that’s who!

From the moment her mother fastened the last button on her dress, Mattea looked as if she stepped straight out of the pages of a bridal magazine. When I told Drew just how amazing she looked he told me ”I know, she always looks amazing.” Watching his nerves melt away as he looked upon his gorgeous bride could’ve perfectly ended the day right there.

A theme throughout their entire day was kindness. Whether it be their family checking in or the many times Drew and Mattea thanked me or asked how I was feeling with my pregnancy. When I almost fell down the steps during bridal party portraits…whoops! Everyone was so concerned that I was okay. but Thankfully Mattea’s amazing attendant had been right there to catch me!

Blush paired with burgundy, grey and pops of teal were the perfect mix of colors for a fall wedding! Their reception décor perfectly fit both Drew’s love for hunting with elegant deer antlers and Mattea’s soft charm with roses and candelabras. One of my favorites amongst all the gorgeous details was a special ring Mattea always wears, showing off her new last name. Keep scrolling to see what I mean!

During the best man’s speech, he mentioned how the first time he met Mattea, he noticed her laugh. He went on to explain that Drew also has a distinct laugh and that the two of them are perfect together because of it. I couldn’t agree more! One of my favorite parts about this pair is their ability to laugh endlessly and hilariously together!

Drew and Mattea, you are both so genuine and fun! Thank you for being such caring people, I can’t wait to watch you in marriage!
