Eastern Iowa Fall Wedding

Sidney and Nick are two of the most easy-going people I’ve ever met! Despite our dreams of crisp, cool fall days, no matter how many times I refreshed the weather on my phone, it still said rain. Oh, and not just a little bit of rain, but a ton of rain was predicted — right during the window of time when we’d scheduled all their portraits for the day. That rain however didn’t bother Sidney one bit.

When I arrived on their wedding day, it indeed was raining. Sidney (very calmly) showed me an area they’d cleaned out of one of their barns in case of rain. That spot ended up being our saving grace for portraits. Everyone stayed dry and we ended up with so many great photos! As we started portraits, we watched a fresh wall of rain coming towards us in the distance. Despite the impending storm, we were able to witness the very emotional first time Sidney’s dad saw her on her wedding day! Moments like those are truly precious. I’m so glad they got that time together before the storm!

After their St. Mary’s Catholic Church ceremony in Wilton, we were able to sneak them outside for a few sweet minutes in the natural light. It was such a perfect way to celebrate Sidney and Nick becoming husband and wife!

Their reception, hosted in Sidney’s family’s seed building, was filled to the brim with hundreds of their family and friends. Both of her sisters used it for their weddings, and now as her parent’s youngest daughter, Sidney got to use the building (and amazing barn background her grandpa built!) to host one final wedding for their family!

Sidney and Nick, you guys are the best! Seriously, your calmness during a situation that could’ve been a nightmare was absolutely astounding. You two are the sweetest and I’m so excited for the life you’re building together!
