Emma and Nathan’s Iowa City Engagement

July 13, 2022

I could tell they were a little nervous before we started, but once we got going, their worries melted away. Everything felt easy after that. Going in to every session, I never know what I’m going to capture before the day. I let the personalities of my couples indicate what we do next during the session. For these two it was sweet and tender.

Emma and Nathan knew they wanted some of their session on the University of Iowa campus since they met through church ministry while attending school here. After shooting there for a bit, we transitioned to a nearby nature spot. When I asked them to climb a steep hill and stand amidst the purple wildflowers (I’m obsessed with the color), they didn’t bat an eye.

Before departing for the evening, these two surprised me with a note and chocolates for my drive home. They are kind to their core. A gesture like this says so much about who they are as people and the life they have ahead.
