Newborn Photos at Home

The Boyle family recently celebrated the arrival of their newest member. Eager to capture these precious early moments, Sadie reached out to me for an intimate newborn family session right in the comfort of their own home in Dubuque, Iowa.

Sessions like this one are extra special to me because I was Sadie and Jack’s wedding photographer! I’ve photographed their engagement, wedding and now their family. Watching their relationship grow is one of the greatest treasures of this job.

Their session was completely authentic in the relaxed atmosphere of their cozy home. I got to experience a glimpse into their family life, from the gentle touches of tiny fingers to the genuine expressions of joy, warmth, and love. It was so special to watch the way Jack encouraged Sadie in her new role as mother. More than once I heard him tell her, “you’re doing a great job.” Those are seriously some of the most reassuring words to hear as a mom.

Relaxed Home Family Session

The abundance of natural light streaming through the windows added a soft glow. The choice to conduct the session at home not only provided a familiar environment for baby, but also ensured the whole family felt at ease, resulting in more natural and candid shots.

Home family sessions have become my new favorite for many reasons. No matter how long they call this house their home, the photos here will always have an extra layer of meaning. This will always be the place they brought their first baby home. It’s within these walls that they learned and grew as parents. That’s just one narrative that gives these photos so much meaning.
