Tears filled his eyes as he wrapped his arms around his daughter. He brought the microphone to his lips and talked of his love for her. Then Kelsey’s dad turned his eyes to her mom. Their eyes — filled with tears — met and acknowledged their intimate family bond. Halfway through the daddy/daughter dance, Kelsey’s father motioned for her mother to join them. As her parents traded places, you could feel the love and emotion fill that moment. It was the perfect ending to the most beautiful Iowa fall backyard wedding!
Let’s back up a few months to the start of 2020, pre-coronavirus. Kelsey and Tommy, freshly engaged, were planning their dream church wedding. The idea of a “backyard wedding” wasn’t even on their radar. But, as the year progressed and regulations changed (again), their original plan was no longer possible.
Their saving grace came from Tommy’s boss. He generously offered his family’s home for their wedding. It was the perfect setting! The back patio was large enough to fit their closest family and friends. Their backyard ceremony was sweet and intimate, which I love!
You’d never guess their wedding day wasn’t meant to be this way all along! The cool breeze blowing through the tall trees definitely made it feel like Iowa fall! Sunlight trickled through the leaves all day, leaving everything warm and glowy. The day even finished with the picture-perfect sunset I dream of for every wedding! Take a look at Kelsey and Tommy’s “just married” photos! They’re some of my new favorites!!
Kelsey and Tommy, thank you for inviting me into your lives on this special day! I know planning this year has been beyond stressful, but you pulled every little detail together perfectly! I pray your marriage will be just as beautiful as this day!!
