I want this blog to include some more personal notes in addition to sharing my recent work. Over the weekend I celebrated my 28th birthday! My birthday has always been a fun day for me. I don’t like to have a huge agenda, but I love to fill the day with my favorite things. This year I knew I wanted to take the kids to the bakery for a little treat in the morning, so we did just that! Later in the day, I took Evelyn (my daughter) with me to Old Navy and Target where we browsed the aisles while sipping our shared Starbucks.
The main purpose of the trip was to find gifts for friends. Gift-giving is not always my strongest love language, especially when it feels generic. However, I love finding things that remind me of someone and I know they will truly enjoy it. So, while our shopping trip was on my birthday, I found much more joy in finding things to bless others than searching for meaningless things for myself.
I couldn’t be happier about starting my 28th year with a mindset of serving others over myself. The simple moments of my birthday are what truly made the day special and are the memories I want to savor. Don’t worry, Joey did take me on a date a few days before my actual birthday (Valentines day makes the month of celebrating a little weird)! Looking forward to the next few months, I want to be continuously intentional with my time and find joy in the small moments. If you made it this far, thanks for taking the time to read some of my thoughts!
