Hey there, friend! Today I have an extra special post for you! This past weekend I got to photograph Mandie and Scott’s classy Emerald Hills wedding in Promise City, Iowa and it was a DREAM!
Ever since we first met for coffee, I’ve been anxiously awaiting their wedding day. Mandie and Scott are so genuinely sweet! It was so cool to see their vision come to life this weekend. Can you believe when they started planning, Emerald Hills wasn’t even built yet? Watching the building progress and planning use of the space with Mandie was such a joy! Beautiful neutral greenery bouquets from Allison at Hydrangea Bloom were the perfect compliment to the cayenne-colored dresses (I’m kinda in love with this color now!).
Mandie has such an amazing eye for style. Her classic neutral decor was pure elegance with a hint of boho in the greenery, her elegant lace dress with sleeves (!) and both of their boho-inspired shoes. If anything says style, it’s definitely Mandie’s sparkly pom pom mules!
Moments after an emotional first time seeing each other; Scott and Mandie shared even more tears as they exchanged gifts with each other. Scott gifted Mandie the most beautiful gold bracelet with the longitude and latitude coordinates for Emerald Hills inscribed on it in his handwriting. Such a sweet keepsake she’ll have to remember this day forever (besides the photos!) 🙂
Earlier in the week I got a text from Mandie with worries about the forecast. I told her not to worry, we would get our chance at being outside at some point! Their day was blessed with perfect 65° temps that allowed us to do all of their portraits OUTSIDE! As the great planner that Mandie is, she planned from the very beginning to have their ceremony inside, which was so smart! Shortly before walking down the aisle, the rain began to fall. As the thunder rumbled and boomed throughout their reception, all their guests remained safe and dry.
Mandie and Scott, thank you for trusting me! I don’t know how many times you told me you knew it would be great with me as your photographer. I cannot tell you enough how much that means to me coming from two amazing people like you! Your love for each other is obvious. From the way you looked at each other when you first saw each other, to the tears you shared during your dances. Keep holding on to those memories! Being married to your best friend is totally worth every joy and challenge the future may hold. I’m so excited you get to experience it all at each other’s side!
