McKenna and Jace’s wedding at the Midnight Gem in Swisher, Iowa, was a beautiful, intimate celebration. Friends and family traveled from all over the country to be with them on this special day. With only four members in their bridal party, the morning preparations were delightfully slow and relaxed, a welcome change from the typical wedding hustle. It was heartwarming to see everyone so calm, sharing laughter and anticipation for the day ahead.
McKenna chose to share a first look with her dad and brother. Her mom helped carry her dress and lay the train out perfectly before they turned around. The love and pride on their faces as they saw her in her dress for the first time was really special. Just one of the many beautiful reminders of the deep family bonds celebrated at weddings.
Once everyone was fully gathered, McKenna and Jace shared a quick wedding ceremony. Having waited so long for this day, they were ready to celebrate with their loved ones. Following the ceremony, they mingled with guests, who were happy to sit and chat throughout the evening. It was a joyful time of catching up and sharing memories.
After the traditional first dances, McKenna had a surprise for her mom. As the music started, she invited her mom to the dance floor, the look of surprise on her mom’s face was absolutely priceless. She had just put her tennis shoes back on after the ceremony, not expecting a special dance! Tears flowed freely from both mom and daughter as they held each other tight, sharing an unfiltered moment together.
As the evening progressed and the reception was in full swing, dark storm clouds began to roll in. Jace, who absolutely loves storm clouds, insisted on capturing this dramatic backdrop in a few photos. It was as if nature itself was adding a unique touch to their special day. We were so lucky that the rain held off all day, allowing us to capture beautiful portraits outside.
